Our programme of events
for 2009
A Fallow Year
We have now completed four years of annual programmes for Galilee.
During that time we have been really privileged to have been able to
welcome all kinds of stimulating people who have inspired, informed and
challenged us in our fundamental quest and objective as Galilee -
encouraging people on their spiritual journey.
The core group of us that were part of starting Galilee off meet
regularly to steer the programme along and look ahead to the future. That group has been wrestling over the last few months to think through the next steps for Galilee. We are proud of what has happened under the loose banner and enabling umbrella of Galilee. We have brought things to people that they have found helpful or disturbing or helpfully disturbing that they may not easily have been able to encounter and explore in any other context.
If we needed any proof that engaging on a spiritual journey entails growth and movement and change we realised that we could see it in the individuals in the core group who have moved and changed themselves over the years since the idea of Galilee was coming to conception.
This has led us to ask some more fundamental questions about the future
of Galilee.....Is everything that was good and appropriate at the beginning still the best way to go about things? We may have succeeded in some areas, but are there important things that we have not done so well? If we just keep on with a formula might the good ultimately hold us back from the better?
In the end the best way we could see in which to answer those questions in a deep enough way was to give everyone some thinking and reflecting time and enough space to stay creative and open to possibilities. That means
not being caught up in all the many practicalities of still putting on a programme in 2009.
We have therefore decided that 2009 will be a fallow year for Galilee in so far as there will be no planned public events.
However, we would like as many people as possible to help us in the course of next year to reflect, assess, dream, invent, imitate, reconceive, and generally come up with the best shape for Galilee in the future. If you would be willing to help us in that thought process then please send us your thoughts by email via
this feedback link. It would be so helpful to have the benefit of your perspectives and wisdom.
